AutoRama 2009
There will be no AutoRama in San Antonio, Texas in 2009.
Unfortunately, the Promotor and the Alamo Dome were unable to come to a mutually agreeable date for the event, so it was decided by the Promotor that the show would be cancelled for 2009.
The Promotor and the Alamo Dome officials are currently working on a schedule for 2010 and we have hopes that they will be able to come up with a mutually agreeable date and reinstate the show in the 2010 schedule.

Michael,
We've been discussing the future of the Autorama in San Antonio and its' not encouraging. We've been back in San Antonio for the past five consecutive years, on most occasions competing with the rodeo or following the monster truck show. The only show that was marginally profitable for us was when the show ran on February 25-27, 2005 which I believe followed the rodeo. We simply can't run the weekend folowing monster truck, we share too many of the same show attendees and with their event drawing nearly 80,000 spectators we can't compete.
For 2009 we're looking at the following schedule...
Jan 10-11 Monster truck
Jan 16-18 Autorama (we can't compete)
Jan 23-25 Autorama (we have shows in Chicago & New Orleans)
Jan 30-Feb 1 Superbowl
Feb 6-8 we have shows in St Paul & Indianapolis)
Feb 13-15 (we have shows in Dallas & Milwaukee)
Feb 20-22 open date, but I believe is a rodeo weekend
Feb 27-Mar1 open date but I believe is a rodeo weekend
Unfortunately it appears that there is currently not a date that will work for the Autorama as well as the Alamodome for 2009 and unless something changes the show will have to be cancelled. I do believe our show can be successful at your facility, there is a lot of interest in cars locally and we've got a good sponsoring club with the Gear Grinders of San Antonio. If something changes in your facility please keept us advised. In the meantime we'll work on our 2010 schedule.

Thanks for your response, we as well had hoped to make San Antonio an annual event for the Autorama. It appears that based on date options for 2009 we should not plan on producing the event, if you have any changes please keep us in mind. For 2010 I'd ask that you hold both January 20-24 and February 10-14, we're in the process of trying to finalize our 2010 date options and one of those might be a vialble option. I assume the Monster Jam will be the Januray 9th weekend. We do sincerely appreciate your interest in having Autorama return on a weekend that will work for both of us.
